Short version: I've quoted below, a message that went out to parents of
Ms. Weirick's class in mid-September, to share some of what another
fellow Kindergarten class has been up to.
Longer version: Out of curiosity, I went to the Sagamore Hills PTA
Board meeting that happens monthly at 6:15p in the school Media Center,
mentioned on their website <http://sagamorehillspta.org/?page_id=24>.
Very friendly and busy group, and interesting to witness some of the
"behind the scenes" that makes our school what it is. I also visited
with Ms. Weirick parent, Taylor Ackert. After hearing about our mailing
list, she asked for, and I created, a mailing list for Ms. Weirick's
class <http://list.9.0ne.org/list/listinfo/weirick.2012> like ours (I've
subscribed out of curiosity, you can too). She later forwarded me a
message that went out to parents of Ms. Weirick's class in
mid-September, highlighting their class's use of Sagamore Hills PTA's
BringIt sign up sheets

1- AR Testing Volunteers: Fridays from 7:30-8:30am. We'll need two
adults every Friday for that hour. You'll each sit a computer and
ask a student five questions. You'll put the student's answers into
the computer.
Please sign up here:

2- Parent/Teacher Conferences: Yes, they are still happening this
Thursday, September 20 in 15-minute increments from about 3:30-6pm.
If you didn't get to sign up, please check with Ms. Weirick to
schedule yours.
3- Kid Writing Volunteers: Around 9am every day, the kids will be
practicing their writing. A big help to Ms. Weirick would be for an
adult to come by around 9am to help with this. The kids will have
drawn a picture. The adult then encourages the child to write a
sentence that explains the drawing. Of course, the adult may end up
writing some words or all of the sentence, but it's great writing
practice for the kids.

4- Thursday Packet Stuffing Volunteer: 12noon on Thursdays for this.
Julie Zajac-Cox signed up for this at the Open House, but Julie, if
you're not interested in doing it every Thursday, please let us
know. We can add this to the sign-up list.
5- Friday Cooking Ingredients and Volunteers: 10am on Fridays is
Cooking Time. Ms. Weirick will be sending out a note at the
beginning of each week in the kids' folders requesting certain
ingredients. Please bring in your ingredient by that Thursday. This
way she'll know for sure that she has everything for Friday
morning. Alexis Carbajal and Sarah Holmes signed up at the Open
House to volunteer for this. Do you two want to alternate Fridays?
Or we can add this to the sign-up list. Just let us know. Thanks.
6- Mystery Reader: 2pm on Fridays for Mystery Readers! The student's
parent, relative or friend should bring in two or three books. The
Mystery Reader will read until dismissal or close to it. Mary
Margaret Brown signed up for this at Open House. Mary Margaret, if
it's okay with you, can we put your email or phone number on the
sign-up for last-minute cancellations and things like that?

7- Snacks: Ms. Weirick for is fine with anyone bringing in some easy
snacks that can be stored, as of now, in the far-right corner of the
classroom -- pretzels, low-sugar cereals, goldfish, etc. This snack
arrangement may change down the road. But for now, if you think
about it, drop something off this week or next to keep the snacks
stocked. There are 25 hungry kids in the class. Thanks!
8- Wish List: Ms. Weirick will put sticky notes on her Wish List
(outside classroom door). If you plan to get one of the things,
please take the sticky note with you. If she needs lots of
something, she will put out multiple sticky notes. Thanks for making
wish list wishes come true :)
Please let us know if you have any problems with the sign-up list or
have any questions. Thanks for everything!
Shannon and Lara
