Hi Dave,

Thanks for putting so much time into this site! I think it can be very helpful. James may be able to help a bit more than I can technically, but I have some ideas of resources that may be helpful to add. Other parents may have ideas too.

Here are some ideas for the website:

  *   Daily Class Schedule
  * Class Calendar – add things like test dates, special events, field trips, etc.
  * Monthly Letter from Ms. Danhi or Room Parent – What will the kids be working on , happenings, needs, etc. It can be the same one that is sent home in the folders.
  *   Info about Ms. Danhi
  *   Photos?
  *   Wish Lists for Class

Helpful links for parents:

  * Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (GKIDS)
http://www.doe.k12.ga.us/Curriculum-Instruction-and-Assessment/Assessment/Pages/GKIDS.aspx

  * National PTA Parent’s Guide to Student Success - Kindergarten
http://ogkindergarten.webs.com/Common%20Core%20Guide%20for%20Parents%20Kdg.pdf

  *   GaDOE – GeorgiaStandards.org
  * A list of the acronyms used by the school so we all can become familiar with them – we can probably obtain this from the PTA.

Skill Building Learning Websites (There are TONS of great websites – a friend of mine has a daughter attending kindergarten at East Side Elementary in Cobb – amazing lists of websites. We can ask parents to add ones that they like to this list – Apps for iPads and iPhones would be helpful to know about too.

We could also look into adding some websites that may help some of the children who use English as a Second Language as well. I am sure the teachers know of some. The PTA may have some suggestions and so might the teacher who is working with the children at Sagamore. James is bilingual (Spanish) and so are some of the other parents in the class. Perhaps we can find a way to leverage that to help some of the kids who may need it in the class.

Hope this helps –
Audrey

Please take another look at our class webpage<http://www.9.0ne.org/w/Ms._Danhi_2012> I've been working on. Feedback and participation appreciated.

If there's interest, I can give some quick "howto work with the website" demonstrations, maybe before or after school in Ms. Danhi's room.

Or if it looks like a waste of time, please let me know that too! :) (Really!)

I think a place for us to document our findings would be a great compliment to the discussion on this mailing list, so I've set up a wiki page (a webpage we can edit) for our class<http://www.9.0ne.org/w/Ms._Danhi_2012>.

For example, I tried to summarize the "Growing Caterpillar Reading Tracker" we've been trying to understand.

Remember, it's a webpage that we make, and any changes can be undone, so be bold, and edit it to your liking!
