I knew it!!! I was thinking of which parent would freak out about a kids song and the first person that came to my mind was Lara!!!!!

If Lara and John were really smart, they would be able to sing it in Spanish, French and Mandarin!

John,
You and Lara will have to perform a duet as she's the one Dave referenced that "freaked out" when she heard them announce it. It's ingrained in her head and she's been singing it to Anna and Dorothy since they were babies.

I sang that song as a youngster growing up in the DeKalb County school system.

I also learned all of the states in alpha order (because of that song) and I can still say them all in order very fast to this day.

Saying the states quickly in alpha order is how I impressed my future wife Kerry when she met me back in 1993.

Thank you DeKalb County Schools.

After my wife, Jeanie, and I dropped our daughter, Julia, off in the morning, we stuck around to listen to the announcements, as it was Julia's birthday and we wanted to hear her birthday shout-out. We were listening with another parent who freaked out when she heard the song, "Fifty Nifty United States", begin over the loudspeaker. "Oh this is great! Do you know this song? You don't‽ Oh, it's great! 'Fifty Nifty United States, of the thirteen original colonies…'" What an impression it had made on her growing up, and now our kids will get to experience this fun memorization aid too! Thanks Sagamore morning announcements! ☺
